Francesca Ferrè

She has been an RTD-B (tenure track) researcher in Business Economics at the Department of Biomedical Sciences for Health of the University of Milan since December 2023. She was previously a postdoctoral fellow and researcher at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Institute of Management, Laboratory Management and Healthcare where you are a member of the teaching board of the PhD in Health Science, Technology and Management. She is responsible for the “Health Management” course at the University of Pisa for the MEET specialization course of the Degree in Medicine, she is the responsible teacher for the “Healthcare Management and Economics” course at the SSFO of the University of Pisa and she was responsible scientific of the DSC revalidation course (ed. V and VI) at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa.
As part of the Doctoral School of Sant’Anna in Pisa, she is currently the supervisor of 2 Ph.D. students (Ph.D. in Innovation Management and PhD in Health Science, Technology and Management) and has been co-supervisor of PhD students in Translational Medicine (cycle XXXV) and Health Science (cycle XXXVI).

Her areas of training and research focus on the management of healthcare companies, in
particular:
a) performance management and value-based healthcare
b) clinical governance and quality systems in complex care pathways
c) governance and service management models
d) Health Technology Assessment

You have coordinated and managed research, intervention research, training, and tutorship projects with different public health stakeholders throughout the national territory, with a particular focus on the Tuscan healthcare sector. For the two years 2022-2023, he coordinated the Evaluation System of the Network of the Regions of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa (PI Prof. S. Nuti and M. Vainieri, patent 0001358839), participated as a scientific contact at the working tables on the organization and management of oncology care and was the national contact person for the OECD “Patient-Reported Indicator Surveys (PaRIS)” project in the breast cancer sector. She is the author of over 30 peer-reviewed products (h-index 11 Scopus), in 2018 she received the “Best Paper award in Healthcare Management 2018” AIES.
For the three years 2021-2023 she was elected General Secretary of the Scientific Society AIES (Italian Association of Health Economics) and since 2024 she has been a member of the Board of Directors. She is a member of numerous national and international scientific academies (AIDEA, SIMA, AIES, EHPG, IRSPM, ISPOR). She has participated in over 20 national and international conferences and was a member of the organizing committee for the Wennberg International Collaborative (WIC) Annual meeting 2023 (Pisa) and for the 24th annual AIES conference 2019 (Pisa). She is Academic Editor PLOS One, Associate Editor Health Services Management Researched, and was Assistant Guest Editor of the special issue « Sustainability and Resilience in Health: The Role of Performance Management », Int. J. Environ. Res. Public Health, 2020.
You have carried out consultancy roles for the European Commission DG REFORM and DG REGIO.
In the period 2010-2015 she was a member of the WHO / European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies and Health Systems and Policy Monitor (HSPM) Network and led the publication of the Country Health System Profile (HiT) for Italy.
