Associate Professor of Global Health (Hygiene and Public Health) at the University of Milan and member of the Centre for Multidisciplinary Research in Health Sciences (MACH). He teaches global health and policy across undergraduate, graduate, and Master of Global Health programmes. Previously, he held academic positions at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (University of Basel) and Bocconi University.
A recognised expert in global public health, his research centres on health systems and policy, the evaluation of health interventions, and the development of strategies to enhance health outcomes worldwide. With extensive expertise in health financing, he investigates sustainable and equitable financing models in diverse contexts. His work also addresses social health protection, with a focus on improving financial protection and access to healthcare for vulnerable populations.
Through health policy analysis, he examines the processes of policy formulation, implementation, and impact, offering evidence-based insights to inform and strengthen health systems. His research further explores the role of global health governance, analysing how international institutions, policies, and financing mechanisms influence national and local health frameworks.
Deeply committed to advancing global health equity, he collaborates with policymakers, international organisations, and academic institutions to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to contemporary global health challenges.
